The Altar Servers Ministry (ASM) has a significant share in the various ministries of the Church. Its primary role is to assist the priest in the celebration of the holy sacrifice of the Mass.
Altar Servers ring the altar bell, lead the processions by carrying with them the processional cross and candles as well as the incense and censer.
They also present to the priest the bread, wine, and water during the preparation of the gifts, and assist the priest in washing his hands before the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
The Altar Servers, at their very tender age, have this special privilege of standing close to the priest celebrant at mass, near the altar where the bread and wine become the holy body and blood of Jesus during the act of Consecration.
Beyond providing opportunities for ministry in the altar, being an Altar Server is a path to discern and potentially realize a vocation in the priestly and religious life. Indeed, Altar Servers create great potentials in the service of the Church and society.
